Privacy policy

BizPage (bizpage.org) is a directory of local businesses. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't run third-party advertising or tracking scripts.

Business owners

When you create a page we store:

• The business details you enter (name, address, phone, website, description, hours, photos, social links). These are shown publicly on your page.
• Your email address and password. Your password is stored in a scrambled form that we can't read. Your email is not shown publicly; we use it to sign you in and to send you customer messages and account emails.
• The internet (IP) address you signed up from, and the times and IP addresses of sign-ins. We use these to protect accounts and to spot spam or duplicate pages.

Businesses listed from public data

Some listings are created from open business data: the business name, address, phone, website and type. Where that data includes a business email address, we keep it privately and use it only to let the business confirm a claim of its listing, and to tell it when its listing is claimed. It is never shown on the site. A business can ask us to remove its listing at any time.

People who leave a review

We store your name, email address, rating and review. Your name, rating and review are shown publicly. Your email address is never shown; we use it only to check reviews are genuine and, if needed, to contact you about your review.

People who message a business

Your name, email address and message are sent to that business by email and stored so the business can see it in its dashboard. The business can reply to your email address.

People who report a page or contact us

We store your report or message, the email address if you give one, and your IP address, so we can investigate and reply.

Everyone

• Cookies: we use one cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
• Remembered location: your browser may remember the last location you searched, so it's filled in next time. This stays on your device.
• Statistics: we count page views, appearances in search results and taps on Call, Directions and Website for each business. These are counts only; we don't build profiles of visitors.
• Server logs: our host keeps standard web server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
• Protection against automated copying: to stop robots from copying the directory, we count how many pages each IP address opens per minute and per hour. These counts are deleted after a day. Addresses that go over the limit are written to a log (IP address, page, browser type and time) that we keep for up to 30 days.

How long we keep information

We keep business pages and accounts until they are deleted. We keep reviews, messages and reports for as long as the business page exists, or until you ask us to remove them.

Your choices

Business owners can edit or hide their page at any time from their dashboard. Anyone can ask us to see, correct or delete information about them by contacting us. We'll reply within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
